Dr. Marton Doleschall is a teacher, geneticist and senior researcher in the Molecular Medicine Research Group, Eotvos Lorand Research Network and Semmelweis University, Budapest, Hungary. He obtained his MSc degree as a biology and chemistry teacher in the Faculty of Sciences, Eotvos Lorand University, Budapest, Hungary, and then defended his PhD thesis in the Faculty of Veterinary Science, Szent Istvan University, Godollo, Hungary. In general, he is proficient in genetics, molecular biology and bioinformatics. In more detail, he conducts translational research on the complex genetic phenomena underlying endocrine diseases, approached by the diverse branches of genetics (evolutionary, molecular and statistical genetics). One of his research fields is congenital adrenal hyperplasia and its most frequent causative gene, steroid 21-hydroxylase (CYP21A2). He also studies the genomic region harboring CYP21A2, the RCCX copy number variation, and genetic rearrangements associated with this region. Another research field is the bioinformatics analysis of genetic and genomic biological databases, and he also acts as a scientific advisor for clinical studies. He had got research scholarships from the Janos Bolyai Research Scholarship, the Hungarian Academy of Sciences and the New National Excellence Program of the Hungarian Ministry for Innovation and Technology. His educational activities range from biology and chemistry high school courses to genetics and bioinformatics lectures at undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He is the founder and leading teacher of the Budapesti Realtanoda (Science School of Budapest).
